Position: Board Member

My interest is in supporting healthy foods from local sources. I’m a fan of locally grown produce as well as meats. I believe these products should have a reliable and convenient place to be sold.

I’ve lived in Potsdam since 2006 and been a Member of the Potsdam Co-op off and on since before 2020. I’ve seen the store before, during and after the pandemic. Over that time, I’ve seen a dedicated staff struggle with the demands made on them. These include an older building that frustrates them and distracts from being able to execute the vision they have of how to display and offer products to the public. I believe this is the biggest obstacle and should be tackled first.

My background is in IT and I’ve worked as a database developer. I’ve tackled some difficult projects mostly helping smaller businesses shed legacy systems and move into a more modern framework. I think there is a way to make the coop profitable and make it so we can offer a quality product and still pay our staff generously. I do NOT believe we have explored all the possibilities with converting the current physical structure and I will bring some fresh ideas to the search for a more modern structure.
