Funding Our Expansion And Relocation

Funding Our Expansion And Relocation

Yes!

New York State has awarded the Potsdam Food Co-op $1.65 million of our $3 million project!

But that still leaves us a lot of money to raise through member loans, commercial loans, a mortgage, savings, grants, and donations.

But Why Relocate?

We have outgrown our current home, which was never a commercial facility. A market study gave us the blueprint for a successful larger store.
• Increased sales and more storage will allow for better pricing, making Co-op shopping more
affordable for everyone.
• The ability to sell more local produce and products.
• The Co-op will bring hundreds of people downtown every day, boosting other businesses.
• We will have space for educational programming on healthy living, food budgets, and more.
• The Co-op will become fully ADA accessible.

Meeting The Goals Of The Co-op

A larger store will allow us to better meet our stated goals.
• Everyone in our community has reliable access to local, organic, and healthy food.
North Country farmers and producers have a stable, honest, and robust marketplace.
• Customers have a welcoming place to shop, interact, and participate at many levels.
• Community members have a model of environmentally respectful practices and cooperative ownership.

When?

We expect to open the new store in mid-2023! The Elm Street store remains open until then.
The market study, our project proposal, and projections are available on our website. Feel free to reach out for more details.
