Upcoming Event: Dissecting the Definition of “Healthy” with Gabby Davis on 9/19 & 9/20 in Potsdam NY

Join us for Dissecting the Definition of “Healthy” with Gabby Davis on Thursday, September 19th and Friday September 20th from 7pm-9pm at HEARTH at SUNY Potsdam. Hosted by the Potsdam Food Co-op’s DEI Committee and Co-Sponsored by HEARTH at SUNY Potsdam, Juneteenth Potsdam Committee, and Potsdam Pride.
Gabrielle Davis is the Racial Equity and Food Justice Manager for NCG and the treasurer for Detroit People’s Food Co-op opening in Detroit. Outside of work with NCG, Gabby is a therapist focused on the needs of the People of Global Majority (PoGM) and Queer folks. In her free time, Gabby enjoys reminding people that addiction is a disease-not a choice and encouraging people to say “I don’t know” instead of pretending to know. Gabby lives in Michigan with her wife and her wife’s dog and enjoys ruffling feathers whenever the opportunity presents itself. Community is Gabby’s love language.
Gabby has many different topics that she discusses. She created her presentation “Dissecting the Definition of Eating Healthy” through speaking with various Co-op employees, patrons, and others all over the country about what eating healthy means to them. She continuously modifies this presentation as she meets new people who want to share their definition of eating healthy, so it truly never gets old. The Potsdam Food Co-op’s General Manager, Jessie LaRose, has seen her speak multiple times and states, “She is an amazing human that is very powerful and inspiring and I am thrilled about this opportunity!”
HEARTH is located on Outer Main, across from the back of SUNY Potsdam’s campus and next door to the DEC (Department of Environmental Conservation) building. Parking for HEARTH is in the shared parking lot, so event goers should turn left just before the DEC sign and park as close as possible to the HEARTH building. If you put HEARTH (Marqusee Center for Archaeology and Anthropology @ SUNY Potsdam) into Google Maps, that should give accurate directions.
We hope to see you there!
