The Significance of the Annual Meeting

What’s so great about the Co-op’s Annual Meeting? Well, usually it’s a potluck, and if anyone knows what to bring to a potluck, it’s Co-op members! Unfortunately this year, thanks to COVID, it’s another Zoom meeting. Still, there will be a lot covered. This is your chance, as members, to hear the nitty-gritty financials of the store, including how we are doing, how we did last year, and what big things are on the horizon.
You will also get an update on the expansion/relocation project. What the heck is taking so long? There is a lot going on behind the scenes, and we will tell you all about it at the Annual Meeting.
Also, the election will be certified at the meeting. Serving on the Co-op board is a privilege and a big commitment. The voting ends the evening of the Annual Meeting, and the new board members are elected. We are grateful for everyone running for a seat on the board, those who are serving second terms, and new faces looking to join this dynamic group making a difference in our community.
Employee Board Seat To Be Voted On At Annual Meeting
It is also very exciting to see that Class E (the employee board seat) is a competitive race with three staff members interested in serving on the board for a single one-year term. Jessie LaRose served the first Class E term, and it has been extremely impactful to have another employee’s voice at the table (in addition to the GM). This is a somewhat new phenomenon in the world of Food Co-ops, and we are proud to be on the cutting edge in this way.
It’s not a potluck, but we’ll have some trivia and raffle off some Co-op SWAG, so it won’t be all work. Join in on Tuesday, February 15 at 6:00 pm. Here’s the link. See you there.
Respectfully,
Your Co-op Board
