Buyer Update: Local Egg Price Increase

Buyer Update: Local Egg Price Increase

gc_front_eggs

As the price of everything increases, including chicken feed, fuel for delivery, and the cost of living in general, we have decided to increase the amount we pay to our local egg vendors. This of course means we must raise our retail price as well. Egg prices, effective March 1st, are as follows:

  • Conventional: $4.49 per dozen
  • Organic: $6.19 per dozen
  • Duck Eggs: $6.99 per dozen

Our Ends Policy states that the Co-op exists so that North Country farmers and producers have a stable, honest, and robust marketplace. We care deeply about our commitment to the community and our farmers who supply us with fresh, local goods, and we understand the importance of fair pay for their products, while still doing our best to keep them affordable for our shoppers. Our eggs remain competitively priced with other local stores, especially when you consider that your purchase supports other individuals and families right here in the North Country; better for you (and them)!

Cooperatively,

Jessie LaRose, Lead Buyer & the Potsdam Food Co-op Management Team

Jessie, your explanation of egg price increases was excellent and thoughtful. Thank you-our household will continue to buy eggs ONLY at the Coop!
